zoe,
sad to hear of your accident. hope you are healing up well. last week on the way to the salt mine i almost dropped my bike on some wet cobblestones...i think it frightened the car behind me moreso than myself... here in berlin there are so many bike lanes and bike have an actual existence within the traffic universe... we even have bike traffic jams. however everyone is very law abiding - a difficult adjustment for me, raised mad maxing it on the mean streets of dc... ah but i ramble...anyway as they say in germany 'gute besserung'

Thanks William! I am indeed healing up well - fyi for the world, arnica oil is FANTASTIC for bruises and sore muscles. Just rub it on and it relieves pain and increases circulation and you'll heal in no time...

Yes, I had a similar adjustment when I spent a week in Amsterdam (rented a bike, of course!) I think the best part was that all the other bike riders were so confident, they'd just whiz past pedestrians while eating an apple and talking on their cellphones. Here in DC if you do that people jump out of their pants with terror and half the time they jump in your way, but in Amsterdam the pedestrians (except tourists) are very calm and keep walking in the same direction making it very easy to steer around them :)

Help me Dude, I'm lost.

I was searching for Elvis and somehow ended up in your blog, but you know I'm sure I saw Elvis in the supermarket yesterday.

No honest really, he was right there in front of me, next to the steaks singing "Love me Tender".

He said to me (his lip was only slightly curled) "Boy, you need to get yourself a shiny, new plasmatv to go with that blue suede sofa of yours.

But Elvis said I, In the Ghetto nobody has a plasma tv .

Dude I'm All Shook Up said Elvis. I think I'll have me another cheeseburger then I'm gonna go home and ask Michael Jackson to come round and watch that waaaay cool surfing scene in Apocalypse Now on my new plasma tv .

And then he just walked out of the supermarket singing. . .

"You give me love and consolation,
You give me strength to carry on "

Strange day or what? :-)
